Exciting opportunities await as we seek Building Maintenance Technicians to join our dynamic Engineering and Facilities team at our brand new state-of-the-art distribution centre based at the Omega Business Park, located off Junction 8 on the M62 due to become operational in early 2025. 

This facility stands as the UK's first of its kind. With its cutting-edge automation, it promises unparalleled efficiency and speed in handling goods ensuring our store network is fully supported.

As a pivotal member of our team, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation of our cutting-edge facility spanning one million sq. ft. Your responsibilities will include a wide array of tasks, including performing planned preventative maintenance, addressing repair requests, and executing essential repairs. Collaborating closely other Engineers and Technicians, you'll work hand-in-hand with Operations Managers to uphold the highest safety standards while maximizing operational efficiency.

At the heart of your role lies the management of the ARMS asset system, a critical aspect in minimising operational downtime and safeguarding the facility's performance. Your commitment to excellence will be paramount as you strive to maintain the highest standards of safety and performance, ensuring that the Distribution Centre operates at peak efficiency.

Job Overview

  • Scheduled Maintenance: Complete all planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks on time and to high standards using the ARMS maintenance system.
  • General Repairs: Assist Building Maintenance Engineers with general building repairs, including doors, barriers, and walls.
  • Repair Requests: Address repair and work requests for the distribution centre and office facilities promptly to minimize operational downtime.
  • Asset Management: Use and enhance the ARMS system by inputting new assets, setting up servicing schedules, and maintaining local sub-stores.
  • Inventory Control: Ensure all critical spares are accounted for through the inventory control system and perform regular stock checks of maintenance materials, tools, and spares.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safe systems of work policies and procedures, especially when working at height or in restricted spaces.
  • Training and Development: Complete all required individual development and health and safety training, maintaining high standards at all times.
  • Issue Escalation: Escalate any issues or problems with planned or unplanned maintenance activities to the Building Maintenance Team Manager.

Minimum Criteria To Apply

  • Previous experience of basic building fabric or equipment maintenance or can demonstrate a good standard of DIY skills.
  • Ability to learn to a wide variety of maintenance and facilities tasks.
  • Team Working.
  • Working at heights is essential.
  • Effective Communication.
  • Ability to plan and organise workload.
  • Ability to prioritise workload managing conflicting issues that require resolutions.
