Job Introduction

We have a fantastic opportunity to join our IT department as an Analyst Programmer, working in a team of 12 on exciting projects to improve the efficiency across various business areas including stores, distribution and head office functions. 

Working on IBM Power Systems (iSeries) you will utilise RPG, CLLE, SQL, RDi and technologies such as socket programming, XML, JSON, AWS, RESTful Services and distributed computing. You will be performing analysis, development, testing, deployment and support for core and store systems including ERP, EDI, voice picking, POS, T&A, interfacing to automation systems, data warehousing, suppliers and various third-party systems.

We are looking for someone with full development lifecycle expertise who can manage multiple projects at a time, and a confident and clear communicator with all levels of management within the business.

Job Overview

  • Produce detailed software specifications after engaging with stakeholders
  • Provide third line support to the support desk, troubleshooting and resolving issues as they occur
  • Provide interfaces between the core systems and peripheral systems using web service, socket connections or other technologies that are appropriate
  • Mentor other colleagues in areas of the system they may not be familiar with
  • Research new technology and recommend appropriate solutions
  • Promote code through the change management process and contribute to peer testing
  • Represent the IT function to third-party providers and provide a technical interface to the business
  • Code to programming standards
  • Provide appropriate test scripts (depending on the invasive level of the changes) and will test to standards.

Minimum Criteria To Apply

  • ERP development and software integration experience
  • Knowledge of warehouse/DC software
  • Retail/Epos experience
  • Experience and demonstratable competence in the full software development lifecycle for all variants of RPG
  • Experience in software troubleshooting
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and can confidently communicate with technical and non-technical colleagues
  • Able to prioritise and manage my own workload to ensure timely delivering of required outputs
  •  ‘Can do’ attitude with a determination to see the job through to resolution
  • Customer focused and have an approachable attitude
  • Able to adapt and use new technologies
