Job Introduction

Based at our Liverpool Regional Distribution Centre, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Labourer to join our expanding Vehicle Maintenance Unit (VMU). You’ll play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day maintenance of our fleet, including pressure washing, assisting technicians in the workshop, and moving vehicles between departments or to annual test.

Our in-house operation supports a modern fleet of over 100 powered vehicles and 400 trailers, including CNG-powered trucks and a variety of double-deck trailers. As part of the VMU team, you’ll work in a state-of-the-art, 24-hour facility alongside experienced technicians, apprentices, and support staff.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You’ll be expected to maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety, follow health and safety procedures, and support the wider operation in ensuring our fleet is always ready to meet business demands.

Job Overview

• Vehicle Cleaning: Pressure wash and maintain the presentation of vehicles to a high standard.
• Vehicle Movement: Collect and deliver vehicles within the depot and present them for annual testing.
• Workshop Housekeeping: Carry out general cleaning and maintenance duties within the VMU.
• Parts & Driving: Collect parts and complete associated driving tasks as required.
• Technician Support: Assist VMU Technicians with day-to-day tasks to support vehicle maintenance.
• Health & Safety: Ensure full compliance with health and safety procedures and DVSA requirements.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with Transport and VMU teams to maintain a smooth operation.
• Performance Contribution: Support the delivery of KPIs and continuously improve team efficiency.

Minimum Criteria To Apply

• Valid C+E LGV driving licence, Driver CPC, and tachograph card.
• Understanding of Working Time Directive and Tachograph regulations.
• Experience in a busy transport or workshop environment.
• Proactive, flexible, and a strong team player.
• Good attention to detail, communication, and the ability to prioritise tasks under pressure.
