Job Introduction
We are looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Advisor to join our busy and fast-paced Payroll Team based in our Liverpool Head Office.
The successful candidate will be able to thrive under pressure and provide support across all payroll functions. You will work within a dynamic team to ensure accurate and efficient weekly and monthly payroll runs for approximately 30,000+ employees. We are looking for someone who is confident with processing varying quantities of data and has exceptional attention to detail.
Experience with ResourceLink (Zellis) is highly desirable.
As we are a retail business, you would be required to work bank holidays to ensure weekly processing and reporting deadlines are satisfied.
Job Overview
- Significant contribution to activities set out on the Payroll plan which include annual activities, e.g. Year-end; holiday year end; tax year end; P11D’s; Annual Salary Review implementation and one-off projects and pieces of work.
- Input to payroll team processes, recommending improvements, documenting processes and process changes and developing the wider team on payroll processes.
- Analysis of Payroll accuracy data, inputting to action plans that drive improvements and efficiencies.
- Undertake all payroll processing activities:
- New starter processing
- Statutory payments and amendments
- Time and attendance processes (manual and automated)
- Processing emergency CHAPS payments
- Payslip uploads
- Calculating under and over payments
- Investigating invalid bank details and duplicate post codes
- P32 completion
- Average holiday pay checks
- National minimum wage checks and processes
- BACS process
- Notifications to HMRC (e.g. Company Car changes)
- Processing Employer Payment and Full Payment submission files
- Processing a range of Payrolls (weekly, 4-weekly, monthly)
- New Stores and DC set up’s
- Provision of excellent customer services – responding to pay queries appropriately; spotting trends in queries.
- Maintaining up to date knowledge of legislation and tax impacting Payroll processes, sharing updates with wider team and advising on processes changes as required.
- Supporting the Payroll Manager with wider team management responsibilities, overseeing the team activities when the Payroll Manager is on annual leave.
- Maintenance of confidentiality of information in compliance with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) including the development and maintenance of information management and record-keeping systems related to areas of responsibility
Minimum Criteria To Apply
- Experience as a Payroll Advisor in a business operating multiple payrolls
- Experience working with a range of time and attendance processes (UKG Dimensions – desirable)
- Excellent communication skills, with experience providing advice and support over the phone
- Ability to priorities a wider range of tasks – day to day Payroll activity and project related tasks
- Highly numerate and accurate
- Professional integrity with experience working with highly confidential information
- Team player, with ability to work as part of a team and take on a lead role as required
