Job Introduction

Are you an experienced design professional with a passion for retail and leading creative teams? We're looking for a Senior Homeware Designer to join our in-house design studio. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping our visual identity across a key product category, ensuring every design is on trend, commercially focused and fully compliant.

As a Senior Designer, you will lead a team of designers within the homeware category, delivering standout designs and artwork that resonate with our customers. Reporting to the Design Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end design process, managing the critical path to ensure timely delivery of all creative assets.

Job Overview

  • Lead a team of designers within a key product category.
  • Manage the end-to-end design process, ensuring timely delivery of all artwork and creative assets.
  • Plan and maintain the design schedule in collaboration with the Design Manager and Category teams.
  • Oversee the creation, review, and sign-off of sample artwork and prototypes for products and packaging.
  • Ensure all designs are visually appealing, on trend, and compliant with branding, licensing, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop artwork for production in line with style guides and category plans.
  • Conduct market research, trend forecasting, including competitor reviews and trade show visits, to inform design direction.
  • Set clear objectives and KPIs for your team, regularly reviewing performance and implementing improvements.
  • Foster a culture of creativity, innovation, and continuous improvement within the design function.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders including Category Managers, Buyers, Product Approval Specialists, and external suppliers.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and quality of the design team’s output.

Minimum Criteria To Apply

  • A degree in design or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven experience managing a team of design professionals.
  • Strong knowledge of retail product design within a homeware category area.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Demonstrable experience of developing artwork for production, including packaging.
  • A strong understanding of branding, compliance, and licensing in a retail context.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A customer-first mindset, commercially aware with a drive for creative excellence.
  • Surface pattern and hand paint skills would be advantageous.
  • A proactive approach to innovation and continuous improvement.
