Are you passionate about products, trendspotting, and bringing great ranges to life? We’re looking for an enthusiastic and commercially minded Trainee Buyer to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to build your buying career in a fast-paced environment, gaining hands-on experience and supporting the development of customer-focused product ranges. You’ll work alongside experienced teams across the full buying cycle—from early product concepts through to launch and performance review.
As a Trainee Buyer, you’ll support the wider product development team and play an integral role in shaping ranges that align with commercial goals and customer preferences. From raising purchase orders and managing supplier relationships to analysing product performance and contributing to range strategies—no two days are the same.
Job Overview
- Supporting day-to-day activities across the product development team
- Raising purchase orders aligned with range plans
- Managing order schedules and supplier communication in line with critical paths
- Supporting end-to-end product development with internal and external stakeholders
- Overseeing sample management and archiving
- Working closely with operational teams to maintain accurate schedules
- Contributing to category and range planning across multiple channels
- Monitoring sales data, market trends, and competitor activity
- Ensuring compliance with quality and testing requirements
- Supporting merchandising and marketing teams to optimise product visibility
Minimum Criteria To Apply
- Buying or merchandising experience is desirable but not essential.
- A commercially driven mindset with strong awareness of product and customer trends
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across teams and suppliers
- Good negotiation abilities and strong analytical thinking
- A proactive, organised approach with strong attention to detail
- Creative thinking and problem-solving skills
- A genuine interest in product development and building successful ranges
